Thumbs up

It was fall of 1965, and our family was going to buy our first new car, a Pontiac Tempest. We drove down to Tom Connolly Pontiac on the Auto Mile (Route 1 in Mass.) On the lot was a Aqua green 4 door Tempest with a green interior, Power Steering, Radio, Heater, Whitewall tires and full wheel covers. It had a 326 c.i. V-8 and a 2 speed automatic....we drove it off the lot for $2,400......my mother drove it every day from 1965 thru 1986.......200,000 miles on the original drivetrain.

But, that is not the best part of the story. While my folks were negotiating on the Tempest, my best friend Bob and I were in the showroom. There in the middle of the showroom was a 1965 GTO convertible, Red with a white top and interior, 4 speed, buckets, and Tri Power.....WOW, it was an absolute stunner! The sticker price was over $4,000....a totally loaded car. Too bad we didn't but the GTO instead......
