I agree with your line of thinking that the buyer had seen the color and wanted it on their (now my) GTO. I do really like this color on my car.

1972 Pontiac GTO - The color is Carolina Blue and it's original. It was a special order from a North Carolina dealership, and has 2 dashes for the color code on the trim plate.
Originally 400, now a 455, 4:10 12 bolt posi. 2004R overdrive installed in Nov 2015. Viking Performance coilovers finished up in April 2016.
