Those are both '67 shifters. The '68 doesn't have those visible screws in the corners and it's not made to sit on top of the console with the chrome edge showing but is recessed into it.
The one shown right above this post is the aftermarket one I looked at years ago for my Trans Am. It has the trapezoid shape made to fit the second generation consoles.
If the one shown by the OP is a '68 it's been modified with a '67 top plate
