Whether or not pump body is aluminum shouldn’t be concerning you. There’s maybe a one pound difference between iron and aluminum, really who cares?

I sent my 1964 8-bolt pump out to have it rebuilt, partly because I wanted to retain the original one and because you’re getting a better quality pump than buying something new that’s made who knows where.

Many years ago probably 25 or more I bought an overpriced Flow Kooler pump. It had an aluminum body and a cast impeller. Not long after that I bought another almost new aluminum body pump for $5.00 at a salvage yard, i was shocked to see it was exactly the same as the Flow Kooler pump including the aluminum body cast in Japan. I’m sure things have changed over the years by now.
