69, 70, 71 Firebirds and Trans Ams for sure had these from the factory and I suspect that many other GM models did as well.

Over time, most of these rotted away only leaving the paper like material on the faces. I lucked out on a very nice 70 column as the seal above was still in place and in reasonably good shape.

I don't think most people know that this seal exists, what it is supposed to look like and thus no one has ever thought to reproduce them. Mustangs had similar foam seals in the base of their columns as well.

I ordered the material and circular cutters to try make my own so we'll see how they turn out.
