Some times hard to watch, but here is a long drawn out series about the conversion using factory parts. Find yourself some 69/70 front spindles and caliper brackets. Later models will not work, front steer vs rear steer. Buy new calipers and hoses and disk master. Then bite the bullet and pay the money for the 69/70 rotors. The tricky part is what to do with a distribution block and maybe an in-line residual pressure valve.
Are they huge garbage can lid size? Nope. Better than drums, yep, although the drums are not really terrible after the first stop of the day.
