I already sent the seller a message through eBay before this thread was started telling him (or her) that it started life as a 7041263, whether they realized it or not. No response to my message and the ad has not been updated, so I'm speculating they had something to do with the restamp.
As has been said, the only motivation (for changing the "3" to an "8") was greed, whomever did it. An NOS -1263 with production date would have been very desirable to begin with. In my opinion, it's worth less than a -1263 or a -1268 now that it's been f-ed with...too bad. A -1263 is a perfect replacement for a -1267 or -1273.
