Good info! K7-117 (axle) & 7D26 (differential) are within one day of each other, so that makes sense. The AB code (2.56) and the build date variance tell me it is not the original "numbers-matching" rear end, but a correct 1977 unit for the car (correct would be code AR, or AT (3.23).

Car is not 100% original otherwise, so outside of the matching numbers engine/heads, anything else would be a bonus, IMHO. I'm actually pretty damn happy that the trans was updated to a 200R4

K8 possibly the line it was built on at GM of Canada plant?

Not sure when the Can Am started production, but it possibly was held up for some reason and the axle is original?
Think they had problems with the rear spoiler production?
