Major step back this week. Mounted the hood but had a hell of a time getting it to fit - it did not. Nothing went in - fenders too close, header wrong match, etc. finally said to hell with it, pulled off the hood, bumper, header and core support. When I had the frame stripped I figured since the doghouse was ok the frame was - wrong.
As shown subsequent measurements show the passenger frame horn was bent outward 0.400", pulling the doghouse out of square. I also found I welded the patches for the core support in the wrong place. So some repairs are in order.
The horn was kerfed, pulled in and welded - that solved the frame issue hopefully. The core support was repaired also.
Another minor issue was the shift boot - d@mn thing disintegrated after five years - Chinese garbage rubber. I am replacing it with a leather boot made by Redline.
Bumper will be straightened, noted the it was replated in 1987 - I wonder if that was when it got in the accident?
