I was talking to Herb at the T/A Nationals last fall. One of the interesting things he told me was that he was the designer for the T/A stripes in '69 and '70. The correct color for an American road race car competing internationally was white with blue stripe(s). The attached wikipedia chart also shows blue with white stripe as an acceptable alternate
