Salvage Yard Bible!! Get it!
I found this book to be an excellent source of info on cobbling together missing parts for your car:
PONTIAC MUSCLE CARS Salvage Yard Buyers Guide John R. Miller
Published by PAH Publishing, should run about $22. It covers all Pontiacs, 326 thru 455, for the years 1964 - 1972.
The book basically lists all the parts, by casting or part number, that were identical for various models and engines. So it you find a nice bellhousing from a 69 Firebird, can you use it to complete your 68 GTO? This book will tell you. It's a basic reference - no fancy pictures, no stories.
