I have found that the GM part number can apply to more than one fastener. Example would be a 1970 bolt, Identical to a 1969 bolt, but since the new body came along ( with a new decade) the number could change. Also different manufactures may have the same bolt and number, and different markings, and on the same car. Especially side to side. The mission to cut costs was always
in the backround, driving changes.
Back in the 80's we had some GM bolt trivia for sponsored prizes at car shows. That was always fun, and some controversial, but was way more popular than anyone could have guessed.
There were a few guys that were NOT Gm techs that really knew their hardware.
