Parts change pick order is the explanation. They used 2 or more vendors for same part. Same being a exact exchange of same part.
This can be seen on some cars with 2 different head bolts in the front lower valance, as this was bolted in from both sides of the assy line,
and the assemblers had their own hardware on each side. When one side runs out, in comes a fork truck with another load of hardware which
could be either bolt, and a parts change pick order was sitting on top, which soon found the floor.
