Quality of the restoration, time and day of auction, was the auction televised, how inebriated were the bidders, all these play a factor and should only be used as a "guide" not as an etched in stone number. Also, when many (most) people look at auction numbers they always gravitate to the highest number they can find and run with it. That's not how it works.
