fwiw - you're supposed to be able to use either type valance with either type light.
PMD even sold a conversion hardware kit to install plastic housing lights into metal valances for the retrofit. You also had to buy the filler surrounds when going to metal valance.
Been a Long Time - but iirc on the metal valance - the lamp mounting screws are longer.
And "maybe" there is also a plastic insert needed that the mounting screws thread into - on a metal valance.
Plastic valance used metal U-Clips for mounting screws.
Bruce is right on the wiring harness difference between them.
You just need to stay with correct lamp.
I never knew there was also a Clear Plastic Lamp - good to know.
Had thought all plastic valance cars came with Amber Plastic Lamps.
