Well I made it home from NW of Chicago with the Red 97, the car is alittle scraped up, looks like it spent some time in a police impound yard, (the guy I bought it from never had the title transfered from the local Police auction he bought it from.) Needs a few things, passenger side mirror wont adjust, missing the drivers side sun Visor, Drivers side headlight motor makes a grinding noise after retracting, but does not pop back up (I know how to do the cheap fix on this, but will probably get a replacement metal gear.) The rt front blinker is inop due to a melted bulb socket, and the display on the indash CD player quit on the drive home, was working when I picked up the car. Also needs a drivers side tail light, cracked, and the rear filler panel between the tail lights is scraped up.
But the good news is only 44,000 miles, the engine, trans, and clutch seem tight, got almost 30 mpg on the trip home at almost 80 mph average, handles and stops well, and the interior is in good shape. Only 1 minor air leak at speeds over 60. So far I am happy with the purchase.
Thanks for the encouraging words, I did enjoy the trip home, though I suspect the car has the wrong wiper blades installed, as the blades work well were they contact the windshield, they just don't contact that much of the windshield.
