In 1974 I bought a '68 GTO convertible for $400 including tax and title. The used car lot wanted to get rid of it because of higher gas prices. It was a totally loaded cruiser with power steering, seats, windows, Hideaways, door locks, Dual Gate, air, brakes.
It was Verdoro Green with black top, interior and deluxe wheel covers. It needed front end work, a muffler, a top, a trans reseal and some tune up items. Tires worn but not bald. 54,000 miles. My old man had a fit. He only liked slow economical cars and when he saw it he was infuriated, made me get rid of it immediately. I still have the VIN and I ran it on DMV in all 50 states and its gone. I would give anything to have it back and show him.
