Late response.....
After turning 80 this past Jan., I have slowed from car related. Last thing I did was replace the sand cups in my 427 Chev powered boat about a month ago. I intend to pull timing cover from Donnas 63 as it surges oddly when slowing for a traffic lite or similar situations.....rebuiilder put std. shift bolt in the flex plate, locking up the engine......sold it for that reason.......he may have left the thrust plate off the camshaft.
Per picture request...........here are several, I didnt realize I have no under hood picts until now. This has '69 428 block w/455 crank & pistons. Early 2 barrel camshaft, lotsa torque, Edelbrock w/66 421 AFB, long brand exh. from 'Bird & 70 TH-400 w/towing kit, 3.08 Saf-T-Track..........We use the '61 wagon in most of the local parades, haul machine guns on the tailgate.......may be the only city/town in the US to have such in their parades.
I replaced both sets of front cyls & hoses, flushed the front lines w/syn. fluid. Still pulls slightly to the right......I am going to change the L drum for a 63 to get the right hand threads. I will have to hunt another 63-4 for the right side..........I have 4 parts cars in the south 40...!!!!!
Farmingtron Dragway shot , maybe 2010, of me in '62 SD car against really interesting '62 Ford. It is a last minit attempt by Ford to salvage something in the '62 season; a 406 eng w/2 Holleys on, glass front end, aluminum bumpers, cars is one of 10 made, all had one blue seat & one red......???.....this one ran 2 car lengths behind stock 405/421.
