I see its Right hand Drive which almost certainly indicates its an Australian assembled car ex Canada. Imported as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) car with certain components supplied from local sources.
In its day here, that was a very high end car and the interior and trim level would generally been of a higher standard than the equivalent version sold in the US.
A 1955 Pontiac would have been competing for buyers at the level of persons who might have bought a Jaguar, Humber etc which were prestige level cars here at the time.
