This sounds like a poor connection. I would look to the plug going into the cluster, some wd40 and re seat connector a few times to clean connections.

Also from a wiring diagram, find the common ground for the cluster and assure a good connection there. Believe a large common ground under carpet.
It never hurts to re seat the fuse/s for the circuit your working on also.............especially for an intermittent!

You may be able to get to the cluster connector from below, but you will likely have to pull the fascia and cluster. Really not much to removing it.

The dash components inoperative are the gauges only?
Indicator lights all light when you turn key to start position?
