It happens to us all! And because '74 and '75 Trans Am's were available in blue and share so much visual similarities, it's an easy one to SNAFU!

As for the special paint orders, while it's impossible to speak with absolute certainty, I've never seen a special-paint Trans Am after the 1972 model year. In fact, the ONLY special-paint Trans Ams I've seen have been 1972 model year!

I highly doubt there were any special-paint Trans Ams from 1973 onward. I base this on the story Larry Leist tells when he tried to order his 1973 SD-455 Trans Am in black. https://www.pontiacv8.com/articles/2...primed-example

Were one-off or special paint cars part of the 1972 Norwood strike resolution details? At this point we don't know but why at least (4) 1972 Trans Ams were produced in non-standard Trans Am colors, but Larry couldn't get his 1973 Trans Am built in black makes it seem logical.
