2. The fuel gauge is not working properly. As the fuel in the tank approaches a quarter-tank, the fuel gauge starts moving in various directions. It also seems to be affected by the level of the car, as when the car is inclined on a hill, the gauge will behave erratically.

3. The AC does not work properly in the summer, particularly when idling or driving slowly. It typically works fine when driving on the highway.

4. While the turning signals typically work fine, there are random moments when they will turn off unexpectedly, without any warning.

5. The car often idles roughly, often after driving long distances, when it is cold outside, or when the car is inclined.

As far as I know, these are the major issues the car is dealing with at the moment. The car currently has about 89,000 miles. I'm looking for around $5500, but I'm willing to work on the price, given all of the issues. If you are interested in more information about the car, or just interested in the car in general, please let me know. Thank you.

Here are some possible solutions to problems 1 & 2.

Problem 1.

Check the negative battery cable connection to the passenger side lower frame rail less than 10 inches rearward of the battery. The bolt or stud can rust away and will cause all types of intermittent electrical problems (e.g. No crank or start/stall, anti-lock brakes light being on). Fixed my 1997 Grand Prix by cleaning away the rust and installing a new self tapping bolt with grounding washers.

Problem 2.

Check for a bad ground connection for the fuel tank sending unit. The ground is located on the passenger side floor pan/rocker. To access it move the passenger side front seat all the way rearward and then remove the screws attaching the *L* shaped molding that holds the carpet in place. Then pull the carpet back and you should see the bolt attaching the ground wire to the body. Don’t be surprised if the bolt is super tight because of the rust. If you can’t remove it drill a new hole, cut the old ring terminal off the wire, install a new terminal on the wire and attach it with a new bolt in the new hole. On my 1997 it corrected an intermittent beyond full fuel gage reading and an intermittent erratic reading. Note: Mine is a two door model but the ground wire connection should be there.
