Like SteveP I was brought home in a Pontiac. My parents sold my moms verdero green 68 Firebird and bought a silver 1970 LeMans hard top before their second kid (me) was born so we have been connected for over 45 years.

My dad drove that car in the Air Force from 75-81. My mom started driving it in 82 until about 87. Then it sat until I started driving in 91. After high school ‘the tank’ sat again while I went to college. It was started on and off when my parents moved. In ‘99 both it and our 70 GTO had a tree fall on them and caved in the roofs.

In 2010 I restored the 70 GTO and 73 Caprice. In 2012 I did the LeMans. This car and I have been through Hell and back. It’s been jumped a few times, more accidents than I can count, got 4 tickets at once in it (that’s why it got spray painted black!), Lots of firsts in this car....

We were deciding if we should restore it and figured if it started it was a sign. Not only did it start on 10 year old gas- it idled and drove out of the barn on 4 flat tires!

We wanted to stay true to the car so we did not clone a GTO or put a GTO hood on it- but we wanted it to look tough since it had been through so much! This car has its original 350 in it,, the original 2 speed transmission and the original limited slip rear end all of which are untouched and never rebuilt with 208,000 miles on them. To this day as long as it has a good battery the tank will fire right up.
