We're probably 5 years away (or more - if ever) from Tesla selling the base truck at $39,900. The Model 3 was supposed to be a $35,000 car (less $7500 tax credit) when shown in the spring of 2016. To date - 3.5 years later, they have yet to build one.

I doubt that a $35,000 Model 3 will ever be sold.

The lowest price Model 3 available right now is $38,990 - and as of Jan 1 will no longer have any tax credit available at all.

I will add that where I live those electric car outlets are going in a large rate. Electric cars are everywhere and most are Teslas.

So the car that most folks thought would cost them a net of $27,500 back in 2016 - will never happen.
