Going thru the 1966 Tri-Power Applications so far, Kenth, some have the "pull clip" and some do not. I believe the older stuff used a solid steel needle and seat assy.
Then Pontiac and others went to the Viton (or other material rubber tipped needles).

These needles sometimes stuck in the seat if the gas evaporated, The pull clip would very gradually remove the needle from the seat as the gas evaporated, then No Stuck Needle.

So far posting the 66 info, the clip seems to be random because I am going by the sheet part numbers and have not gone to the 1965 sheets to see where the clip might have first appeared.
