but whats strange is in the pics you posted, i dont see the 1980 parts such as the detonation sensor that should be in the center area of the intake, nor do i see the pevr valve. the angle of the pics is hard to see everything in detail though but the knock sensor definitely is not there.

so to help confirm these things can you get pics of the area below the distributor, like where the dist clamp is? there should be a ~1" round item threaded into the block in that area with a wire connected to it if its an 81 block. & also a "better" pic of the carb & intake area taken from the front of the car looking down.

& can you look for the engine code & vin#? should be stammped on the front pass side of the block under the head & possibly hidden by the rad hose connection.
