Happily was able to get everything loose upon initial disassembly.
Found a somewhat suitable thermostat coil spring and a simple test shows it functioning as it should.
Decided to finish off the manifold with 3 coats of metallic blue, last can so figured why not now
Gate shaft is fairly tight so doesn't look like I'll have to sleeve/bush it.
Now I just need to get a suitable anti rattle spring and all should be good.
