Pulling the pedal up should completely take the T.O. bearing out of the equation as long as it is sliding back like it should be. So unless the bearing, fork, or pivot ball is rattling from vibration, it would seem its likely coming from the pressure plate. Is it a diaphragm type, or 3 finger?
just my guessing from the living room couch of course......
