A new chain on a saw will stretch quickly. Will need to be adjusted a couple of times in the first few hours of use. After than it will usually be ok ... the manual should have the recommendations for tension, set when COLD. Don't adjust the tension when hot to the same as you would when cold, or when the saw cools down it will put tremendous stress on the drive sprocket bearings.
