Bar and Chain gauges should be matched, at minimum.
A lot of saws will allow either gauge size of Bar/Chain to be used, it depends mostly on the design of the drive sprocket.

If the drive sprocket has shouldered or raised flanges concealing the sprocket teeth, a lot of times it will only allow an .043 - IF .043 was the spec.

If the drive sprocket is open (no shoulders) you run can either size gauge of Bar/Chain.

They shouldn't even offer 2 gauges, but supposedly it reduces enough rotating mass to make a difference somehow.
Probably just in no-load chain speed numbers.
On a 12" chain - the difference is probably less than half an ounce.

You can use feeler gauges to try to check gauge sizes and tolerances.
Like measuring a spark plug gap

Even the 14" and 16" EGO saws come with .043 Bar/Chain
18" EGO comes with .050 Bar/Chain
But the Bar/Chain combos can be switched together on any of them.
My 12" Crafter probably uses .043 , since TJ's Dewalt is .043

Which bar did you decide to buy ?

Does UpStart offer 12" chains in .043 ?

If you're going to have three 12" saws , it would be cool if they all used same chain.
TJ might need a new bar on her Dewalter down the road to save money on chain if those UpStart chains prove good.
