Default Front grills

so I damaged my driver's front grill as a boy long ago and was looking through my extras and noticed all basically the same except 1 right side grill. It didn't have rivets holding the outer trim to the main grill and had Abs burn stamped in it. looks same other than that detail ,but my originals are riveted on. Is this an aftermarket ot 71 maybe? The 1st pic is my original and second phase no rivet on the trim to attach to body also it has abs stamped on it. I have about 8 grills and this is only 1 that has no rivets holding chrome tri..to msin body. I want to clean up and paint them correct color and noticed this .Any advise?

I believe that often not all the mounting tabs were used.

Are you sure that what you are seeing is a metal rivet? Does a magnet stick to it?

My grills look like they had a peg like protrusion on the tab that stuck into the hole on the grill. The pegs look to have snapped off at some point.

I believe the peg is the pin of the aluminum rivet

This is a better picture from front looking up. I believe they are aluminum rivets with a metal.pin. each grill has 2. But the mystery question is why I have onevwith no hole on tab or rivets. and another member same on his 71? Is riveted grill a 1 year only item too? or maybe I got a donor early repop? I'm guessing. if repops trim isn't riveted I guess it's an easy fix just drill small hole install a rivet so the trim.doesnt rattle off. I have been told repops are nice and that original are built better so guess Im.confused and curious about this rivet factory install.
