A6 reolacement compressor for '67 GTO
I'm looking at the attached A6 compressor to replace my existing Frigidare. The mfg. is Apco/Alma. It's advertised as new. Never heard of them. I assume they may be a Chinese company. Anyway, whats the thinking on replacement units? Also, I'll be running R12 from a supply I have.

If you're not concerned about looking factory(aluminum in color but same size) you might consider the "Pro6 Ten" aftermarket compressor. Much lighter and fits in place of the original. Also much less expensive($398 at Old Air Products).

Nothing against the Proten aluminum compressor, but if you want an A6 the Alma is the way to go. Also be advised Alma puts mineral oil into that compressor, so if you want to go with R-134a, you'll need to drain the oil and replace with PAG. OP said he's going to use R-12, so the oil the compressor comes with is fine. |

I have an Alma. Better than OEM considering they have the double lip seal. 4 years, not a drip, and ice cold.
