Default bad mechanical fuel pump?

I just bought a 67 gto that had been sitting for 8 years with an occasional turn over by way of fuel thru top of the carb. This according to the shop were it was stored. I just finished installing the fuel tank with a new sending unit. I blew out the fuel line while the tank was out. I changed all the fluids on the car. Put in 10 gal. of gas in the tank. I put a little fuel in the carb and she turned right over but only ran for as long as the fuel was in the carb. I tried this for a bit but she wasn't getting fuel to the carb. I then removed the rubber line off the steel fuel line coming from the tank. With it still connected to the pump inlet and put it directly into ta container of fuel. Same thing I put fuel in the carb but it still had no fuel getting to the carb. Thanks in advance

Have you tried disconnecting the line going into the carb and see if you have any gas there?

After 8 years of sitting the rubber in the fuel pump might be shot. Just put in another pump. This summer I came home from a cruise and when I went to drive the car the next day it would not start. Pump died. It was only 5 years old. Also check and change your fuel filter.

Well after 8 years of sitting and a 30 years dream and a new fuel pump. I got the car I've always wanted running!

Have we seen pictures of it yet? That has to be done before any more tech assistance.

Looks great Roy... even with the bit of rust we can see. Nice score.

BTW... have the header panel fixed. Don't go for an aftermarket panel. They don't always match up to what the originals are.

It looks to be in a lot better shape than what I started out with. What are your plans for it?

Thanks everyone, a little history. I bought the car from a Maryland estate sale. The car was listed on craigslist. After buying it I received an email from a gentleman that was the former husband of the lady who owned it. He told me that the car was originaly his ex wife's fathers car that he bought new in Florida. He worked for GM back in the day and ordered the car special order. The car spent 37 years in Florida before it made it to Maryland when she inherited it. He said his ex father in law kept the car in pristine condition. In fact he worked in the parts dept. and he bought all new chrome for the car back in the day that he stored away. When the car made it to Maryland where she left the car outside to its current condition. So the car is all numbers matching. I plan on keeping it original and keeping it tyrol blue with the parchment interior. Although I may pull the 400 and have it rebuilt and tuck it away in the garage. I have a 428 tri power that I may put in it to have some fun. The funny thing about all this is that the former husband that sent me the email and hasn't seen the car since it was first brought to Maryland. It turns out he lives only five minutes from my house. He has met with me to see the car. He actually restores old jags. He is in the process of getting me the original keys for the car. And hopefully the chrome that is stored away somewhere from his step daughter in Maryland.

Small world!!

Thanks I'm in New Jersey.
It was a 4+ hour ride each way. I did it twice in a week once to check the car out and the went back down to bring the car back. Well worth the trip!

Looks like a new heater core is in order. Any suggestions on a quality core?

Thanks again

Murray core from O'Reilly's.

Only settle for the copper/brass core.

The one I got a couple of years ago was a dead ringer for the original.
