Arrow Got 1 of these for Christmas,Nexus 7 2013 16gig version.

I must say as a Android phone user this thing is unreal.
No problems at all so far,Skype in video, games, Netflix in 1080P secure 8 hr. battery life.
Amazing device, mostly leave the PC off for social media nowGoogle Voice, iheartradio, pandora,Chrome, amazon books reader, nice camera with 1080p video.Google drive yada yada I love this device.
The Ipad mini killer at $229.00 or less if you shop around.
Just remember you want the 2013 Nexus 7 made by Asus not the 2012 version.
I have the wifi version.

How's the backlight for the reader?

I have a basic Kindle and I love the non-backlit "paper space". I can read for hours without eyestrain.

It puts the Kindle to shame, try one at a local best buy or what not.

Pound for pound, the Nexus 7 is the best small tablet you can buy. It houses a ridiculously sharp, bright screen, its gaming performance is second only to the fourth-generation iPad, and as a Google-branded tablet it will always see the latest version of Android before any other tablet brand.

What I was getting at is that a bright screen is exactly what you do NOT want when using a reader.

Which is why I like my Kindle. There is no backlight whatsoever, which makes for comfortable reading with minimal eyestrain.

It's an IPS screen, great reader my books read wonderfully.Actually almost as good if not better than my 27" IPS monitor on my main pc rig.
I'm actually reading the Bible again. .Which was a free download.
As I said it is an amazing device.
Also has turn by-turn navigation, voice note, voice search and it actually works!
Unreal they could put a 1920 x 1200 IPS screen w/ Quad core processor and 2 gig ram on such a small device.
If I have 1 bitch about it it's that the speakers kinda suck ,but I mostly use a Bluetooth connected speaker anyways.

Nice. I recently got my first smart phone over the summer and the battery life was never great, but definitely dying off already to the point I can't even depend on it even if I don't use it. LG-E970

Just checked and it is down to half the battery and was on the charger overnight and now off the charger for 11 hours without using it once.

I'll be looking into the one you mentioned if they don't do anything for me at AT&T

Just a tip for new device user's for what it's worth.
Plug the device in and fully charge before you boot it - turn it on for the 1st time.
Use only the charger it comes with.If you need an extension get a cheap ac cord not a mini usb extension.
You'll thank me later.

I'd recommend you go to a Large Hi-End Best Buy nearest your location and have them find you the best AT&T deal...any "rebate" "trade-in" etc credit can be applied immediately instead of the old mailin rebate and wait scam.

They can also give you an instant T-Mobile, Sprint, Virgin, etc. comparo for the best deal.

KS - congrats on your new tech. CNet review looks good. You do realize your posted images here are HUGE right? No worries, just FYI.

sorry Alvin
If anyone buys a phone I suggest an unlocked one.Not full on bloatware like the "deals" from att or vigin whatever. Then just buy a sim card from your provider, call then you can get 1 for $10.00. An unlocked phone is a much cleaner experience,+ you own the phone. I pay $50.00 a month from net10 and it's month to month,no contract you can pay - buy refill cards or do month to month billing if you sign up for it.If you are out of funds,no worries. You can reactivate the phone from there web sight.Signing up to get an non-locked phone is just crazy no a days when you consider the rates they charge for the phone.
