Default 67 firebird speedometer problem

i had the m20 muncie rebuilt in my 67 400 4 speed firebird, now the speedometer doesnt work, i found the metal gear is not touching the little plastic gear, does anyone know how i can correct this problem?

did they press the gear on in the wrong spot?
pull the housing out and look in hole
report back where its at and which side your speedo hole is on.

also make sure you have the right drive and driven gears for your rear end ratio.

steel gears make look all the same but theres 6,7,8 tooth
