Default Back corner of hood won't set level

I recently purchased a 66 Lemans that the rear corner of the hood won't set level. When I initially close the hood it sets about an inch high. If I push down that corner it will only go down about 3/4" leaving it about 1/4" high. Are there any suggestions what is wrong and what I can do?

P.S. Thanks for all the good advise on these PY Forums. You save a lot of time and frustrations with your suggestions.

Usual fix is the loosen the hinge to fender bolts and adjust the rear end of the hinge down or front edge up.. That will lower the rear edge of the hood....However, you say you can push it part of the way down and it'll stay down some....I think that indicates that the hinge may be worn out too...

This is probably the most asked (and answered) question in the Body Shop forum. Someone ought to write up the basics of hood and fender alignment and make it a "Sticky" topic.

Sorry, maybe my browser wasn't working properly. I though that I did a search and nothing came up. I see now that there are many of the same questions and answers.

No need to apologize. I wasn't knocking you, just noting how many guys have hood alignment problems.

Don't apologize , I know if I typed in a search for hood alignment it would pull up all threads from Hood scoop to wheel alignment . Haven't figured it out myself, but the info I'm usually looking for is at the last pages.(or oldest) Must be a trick to it.(can't find the thread)

If you are out of adjustment at the hinge and you still can't get the hood level then put a shim between the front of the hinge and the hood. This will pull the back of the hood down.

regards

Ron

Thanks, I'll try that. I'm getting it down to about 1/4" above the fender.
