Heater Hose Nipple
I'm putting a new heater core in my 74 T/A, while I'm at it I thought I'd try all the tips on lowering the engine temp that I've read on the forum lately. I have done the waterpump impeller deal, 160 degree stat, good 4 row radiator, and flushed the block. I want to put a heater hose nipple on the drivers side head and T it from both heads to the heater core. Does anyone offer a nipple that has a 90 degree angle? My car has HEI and if I use the straight nipple I won't have enough room without kinking the hose! Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks, MP |

The 301" Pontiac engine has the 90 degree heater nipple, GM part number #1609997.

Yes - the diameter is the same. I used them in my #62 heads. Worked fine. You can see how I ran the lines in my photos by clicking the link in my sig. I got mine from Year One. They were $40 each.

Moneypit - Try GMPARTSDIECT.COM. They are usually much cheaper than the dealer. I get stuff for my 97 GTP from them.

The alphabet .... .. Just kidding. Which tee are you looking for. Probably a dumb question. But I'm good at those.

You could probably get one at a parts store. Or maybe check Home Depot or Lowe's or even Russel /Earl's for the parts to make one. Since Pontiacs usually had only one head plumbed there may not be a "factory" piece to use. I have several parts catalogs on my computer at home. I'll take a look for something you could use. If memory is correct these are 1/2" hoses?? Let me know if I'm wrong. I'll also try and reember to check when I get home.

I believe the nipple on the head takes a 5/8" heater hose.
