choke help
got an 86 305 4bbl and just bought it in early fall when it ran fine....now when i start it it chokes to 2000-2500 and doesnt come down at all now we all know its not good for the car and not good 4 gas either.......so i want to fix it i replaced the connector and it didnt fix it, so i ran a new wire to the coil and it didnt fix it so i was wondering if i could replace it or swap it out for a manual choke and how hard is it......now i know a bit about cars just not carb stuff

check for voltage on the wire to the choke. it could be a problem farther in the wire or conn. check in a manual to see wire diagram to see where power is coming from.

ran a new wire from the fuse box

check c/h fuse, the voltage also runs through the engine oil pressure switch. once the oil pressure switch closes it sends power to the choke heater. check the brwn/white wire on terminal A of oil pressure switch, the lt blue wire of switch goes to choke heater
