Hi all, does anyone have a NOS switch? Can someone help me out with a diagram or let me know which wire goes where? I am trying to diagnose back up lights. Thanks guys!!

I just wandered through Safari Larry's on line shop manual and came up with little useful information. The schematic in the electrical section is designed for a stick shift car and does not show backup lights other than a no connect at the fuse box. Schematic here: http://www.pontiacsafari.com/55/Shop...nstruments.pdf

The '56 Hydra-Matic manual shows how to adjust the switch and has a black and white picture of the switch and wiring, but doesn't help with colors. It is here on page 40.

The picture of the switch appears to have to two screw down connectors (most likely the safety switch connections - one or both wires most likely pink and larger than the wires with push on connections) and two push on connections (most likely the backup light connections). If so, hook them up and you should be done. It doesn't matter which of the push on wires goes to which push on terminal, nor which of the screw down wires goes to which screw terminal.
