Default What is the value of a 73 J Grand Prix

The car has rust in fenders ,quaters trunk and lid. Runs and drives good 400 engine 90000 miles. He wants $2500 for it. nice car if you put 10000 into it.

if rusted quarters, $2500 is too much. Casn't find them for that car and if you do expect about $750 or more each. I assume that they are not easily fixable on the car?

$1500-$1800. Body parts are out there, but they will not be inexpensive.

Thanks that is what I felt the value to me was as a parts car would hate to do that but would get the tilt wheel, engine trans and the rear end and the a/c parts for my 71 lemans I wish parts were easier to come up with its a nice old car

Tilt wheel will phyiscally fit the 1971 LeMans, but you would have to convert to column mounted headlight dimmer. The A/C compressor would be one of the few A/C parts that would directly interchange. The rear end is totally different and will not go in your LeMans unless a lot of modifications were performed. The engine and trans would go right in, though.

On the rear end I thought it would be a easy swope I thought it was the same width. The lemans has a 8.2 bop and the gp is a 8.5

Thumbs up

They are wider and the LCA/shock mounting points are in different spots. If you want a totally bolt in BOP 8.5" for your LeMans, look for any 1971-72 Buick Skylark or Olds Cutlass. They didn't use the 8.2" in those years.

I had a 73 Grand Prix with no engine a couple of years ago. The only rust it had was in one door and the rear floor pan. I tried parting that car out, but got almost zero interest. It sat around for a couple of years then I threw a 350 in it and ran it in a demolition derby. It was kind of sad to wreck a straight car, but I figured if nobody wanted the parts, what good was it? It was either send it to the crusher or have some fun then send it to the crusher.

Oh, and I had a straight, rust free 74 GP a few years before that. It had the 400, and around 95,000 miles on it. My brother and I painted it, the interior was presentable but not perfect, the A/C worked. It was a nice car, and it still took me almost a year to get $2200 for it.

The only thing that brings good money is a gto I have never been able figure that out. My lemans is worth 1/3 of what they are. Of course that is why I could kind of afford it.
