Default Vacuum Advance line routing - 72 GTO

Is the vacuum line routing through the Vacuum Solenoid correct on the attached picture?

Vacuum hose comes out of back of carb (manifold vacuum) to the front of the Vacuum Solenoid then out the front of the VA solenoid to the distributor VA can.

The 72 shop manual shows it being run from the carb to the back of the solenoid then out the front of the VA solenoid to the distributor VA can.

Did Pontiac also have this set up in 71 or just 72 and later? My 71 doesnt have it, runs manifold vacuum straight to VA can.

All 1970-74 Pontiac V8 engines, except 1971 455 H.O., uses the T.C.S.

And, no you have the hose from carb in the wrong location.
There is supposed to be a small filter were it sits now.

Follow the manual page 6D-9 and youŽll be good, the engineers knew what they were doing.

thanks Kenth very helpful

In fact, the figure 6D-9 was what made me wonder if the shop that did the rebuild many, many years ago had it routed correctly. Do you by chance have a picture of what that filter looks like? Is it available from anybody or ok without it if not?
