Default 1964 GTO oil pan

I have posted in the wanted for a 64 GTO oil pan and always get a similar return saying he has one on a 66 that is the same. Well Sir, no they are not. I have tried that route and basically the original provides clearance for the baffle that bolts to the main cap. The pan won`t fit without altering the baffle or beating the pan walls out. Any one have a 64 GTO oil pan for sale?

Yes, the 64 pans are different to accommodate the windage tray that bolts to the rear main cap, and #4. That tray also holds the lower dipstick tube in place, so it's not easy to just install the later oil pan with later windage tray, since the #2, and #3 main caps don't have the necessary bolt holes for the later trys, or dipstick tube.

I don't have a pan either, BTW.

Ames repro pan #N323 is stated as working in 64 to 71 apps and has a drain plug on the side.

You have no psi , or yours can not be repaired?

From 1966 parts book. 1963 and earlier pans various numbers. 64 P/8 T/8 9773322. 65 P/8 T/8 9778798. So it looks like for some reason 64 is a year by itself.

Steve25. I have a rusted out pan. I don`t know if a repro from Ames fits but one a friend purchased from Summit did not. Tempest 64. No. I don`t have anyone from this area going to Norwalk. It could be tough to verify the correct pan. Swap meets inherently bring folks out to tell you what you want to hear if you don`t know for sure what your in need of. However, someone out there must have a stock 1964 full size pan. I know it is not correct but I know it will fit and clear the windage tray. Thanks in advance if you know where a pan can be had.

Call Ames during the week I am sure they can tell you with certainty if that pan will work for your year 389.

That pan will surely bolt up, but I seriously doubt it will work with his windage tray. They are not curved like the later windage trays are, and the pan needs to be wider in the sump.
