Default Just noticed that Amazon has Valvoline VR1 20W-50 on sale for $23.99/case of 6 quarts

They drop the price like this once in a while.
Grab some for less than $4 per quart delivered!

We did.

Just bought 3 cases. I`m gonna use it in my new roller cam 455. Most say it`s too heavy. I`ll see if it blows up.

Used 20w50 in my old 455 for a looong time. Still fine today.

I tried the VR-1, 20w50 in my engine one time; The engine made a tremendous amount of noise when cold.
I switched back to 10/30 quick.

just curious but why do you want/need a high zinc 20/50 for a roller cam? & is the motor built to "race" specs with loose clearances to actually need the thick oil? the engine wont blow up, but would be happier with a 10/40 or 10/30.

I picked up a six pack of the 20w-50 VR1 at that special price of 23.99, but I also noticed last time I was in our Rural King store that they had the 20w-50 VR1 at about $4.00 a qt. as well. They don't always stock it but the price is usually competitive when it is on the shelf.

It’s got full synthetic 10w30 in it now. It idles at 17 psi hot. I will try that thick oil. I am down here in the heat. If I see or hear something I don’t like, I won’t use it anymore. For that price, I will try it.

If you’re an advanced auto parts speed perks member and have $5off speed perks you can get individual bottles for $3.15/qt.
