Default 1971 GTO battery ground cable connection to block

What is the correct connection location for the ground cable on a 71 GTO

My 72, as per the manual, has a stud at the first cylinder head bolt which the ground connects to.

My 71 (no manual) has it attached to the front of the cylinder head with just a bolt and just a long bolt (no stud) for the first cylinder head bolt

What is correct location for the battery ground to the cylinder head? There is a stud on PS cylinder head, I think its the third bolt back going towards firewall. I thought previous owner put it in the wrong location but its a short stud.

Thanks
I know, I need to get a 71 manual......

According to PZ’s book…71/72 both had negative same way, attached to front exhaust bolt/stud.

I ran into this also. Put new ARP head bolts in and had to take the one back out to put the old one in once I realized I needed it.

Previous owner definitely didnt have the bolts vs. studs in the right place. Needed to replace to long bolts with long studs (front DS and middle PS) and move one short stud from the PS to the DS to have one on each side of center ports
