Rag joint problem
My Rag Joint on my 66 just self-destructed on me. Luckly, I got it home before I was unable to steer it.
I bought a new coupler. Go the old one off. Now I do not know how to get it back on. Remove the power steering gear box? Move the steering shaft? How do I do that? What do I do? You can see the small space to get in the new coupler. Please help. FB66 |

Remove the two rearward bolts of the gear and loosen the third. Swivel the gear up or down to get the clearance you need.
Also a good time to check the integrity of the bolts. Not unheard of to find them severely corroded.

Very much agree with checking for corroded bolts. When I changed over to a Jeep Grand Cherokee box, all three of my bolts were surrounded by dirt/rust and 2 were about 50% gone.
