Default After 5 years I have CRANKED the Judge!

I'm going to try to post some pictures. I bought this Judge in 2005 and it hadnt been run since the early 90s. After a VERY expensive (just shoot me) complete rotisseiry restoration, I covered the fenders the best I could and cranked it. I broke the cam in fine with one exhaust leak and needs one shim in the starter. My redlines and restored JAs are going on tomorrow. Every part is either NOS, correct resto, or restored original. It still amazes just how many individual parts, wires, bolts, cables, switches, upholstery pieces, etc. go into doing a car. The interior is from Legendary, the dash from Just Dashes. I used other parts from Inline, Ames and PY. I had three donor cars. The underbody work, epoxy primer, body seam sealer, paint and body work were all done by Cruzin Customs and was extensive and beautiful. The Liberty Blue paint is flawless. I'm well pleased and it looks better than new. BUT, for the last year (after final paint) I've been afraid to let anybody get around it! I've got SO much money in it and know I can never drive it so its an uncomfortable feeling to have it finally finished but have to be so protective of it. Maybe I'll get over that. I'm thankful I have another 69 that I love to drive and dont mind taking to the track on an occasional friday night. I'll try to get these and other pictures up.
Whew......finally!

most of these pics are old except the one you could tell we were getting it ready to crank. I'll get interior, exterior pics hopefully tomorrow.

Very, very nice. But please tell me you're going to change out the radiator cap.

I still have several things that I can correct now. I borrowed that off my other 69 to crank it. I'm going to try now to get some of the other pictures on.

If its about money, imo you did it for the wrong reason.
It should be about driving, enjoying and creating lasting memories with family and friends.

I see you have a few other toys to drive and play. Each one special in it own way.

I understand Judges are very special cars. I would rather see it at a local crusie night instead of a museum.

Mom only lived 2 years after her car was finished. I cherrish every moment she and I would go for a ride anywhere. Mostly to Ritters for vinalla Ice cream, on nice cool evenings with the top down.

You have a beautifull car. Maybe you could let it be perfect for a year and do all the shows. Then do what it was built for. Drive, enjoy and create lasting memories.

I remember in the movie Home alone 2. When Kevin was explaining why he never wore his roller skates. Granted his roller skates were not north of 75k. Still he did not wear them because he was afraid of them getting dirty. Then he out grew them and never enjoyed them.

If you want to keep it nice enough to show well at car shows, you'll never get over it. My car was painted in 1983. If you decide that some paint chips are ok, you'll get over it.

This should be about what makes you happy. If covering it and hauling it to shows makes you happy, do it (maybe driving to local shows using some clip on mud flaps to guard against rocks?).

These cars were made by Pontiac to be driven for 5 to 10 years and then junked so we would buy another car. We are well past the original driving intentions for these cars. Everyone says, "These cars were made to be driven." That is true, but the word "made" speaks of the intentions of the maker. Pontiac/GM never intended for us to be driving these cars 40 years later. The choce is clearly ours.

The car looks great. Enjoy it as you wish, but do get it out some one way or the other for others to "oogle over"!

I do both...Show and drive...Agreed mine isn't as perfectly done as yours, but I also am with the notion that these cars should be driven hard, but taken enough care to have them last for as long as you want to without becoming their slave, which is something my dad always taught us...On a side note, Jimmy, your car is drop dead gorgeous! Enjoy it while you can....:-)

Thanks for all the kind words. I think after I make some of the final corrections I'll show it a few times and then see how it goes from there. As you guys know, when you've worked on a project for SO long and then finish, you just kinda look at it and say...wow. Is it really finished. There were many times I never thought it would happen. I think I stared at it most of the day friday! I KNOW I slept better friday night. Now I'll get it all wiped down and get some better pictures. Thanks!

Looks sweet. I would drive it little, especially for a couple years. You have other cars to drive.
