Hood hinges are a black phosphate. There's a debate on the tank straps. I've heard black, natural, and maybe body colored. You can probably do a search and find a pretty thorough thread on that topic.

Gas tanks were never anything but natural as far as I know. I think undercoating may have confused things though, but that would have been a dealer option.

Gas tanks had a galvanized zinc finish. The repop tanks have a similar finish and look pretty good. Gas tank straps on my '71 were definitely painted black prior to installation. Norwood cars seem to indicate that the straps were installed prior to paint and did get some body color overspray on them, especially toward the back of the car.

Retainers? If you mean the bands that go around them, they are natural steel.

Some of these naturals bare metal parts can be hit with a clear to help prevent rust without the maintenance of oiling them up. Depending on level of restoration and look your trying to achieve ?
Visit your restoration shop often as to help keep track of your parts. I have heard sad stories of shops miss placing all sorts of things and these parts are far and few. Time, money, headaches, ....... LOL,Brew |

Yeah, they're date coded around the air valve. Also, the '73 rims are different than the earlier ones too, but if it is a '73 you should see an "HM" and a 3 somewhere near the valve stem and a few other number for the month.
