Yes, and hope to see you at my cars and coffee. I’m shooting for later in may, if it’s warm.

Pontiac's "parent" Oakland published a magazine for owners called "The Oaklander". I have issues from 1923~1930.
Pontiac published a similar magazine called "Pontiac Owner's Magazine" from 1935~1942 (I have the complete run of these). General Motors published a magazine for all GM workers (not for customers) called "G M Folks" from 1938~1956. Pontiac published "Safari" for Pontiac owners from 1960~1971 (I have a complete run of these). Sometime later, Pontiac published a magazine called "Pontiac Excitement". Don't know much about these, as they are newer than most of my collection. All of these magazines show a wonderful snapshot of life in a different time, along with a lot of sales hype about the cars. Jon.

Right after I posted above I did a search and saw where you had those magazines.
Did the newer ones come from the local dealer? One of the reasons I bought the ones I have is for the dealer names and addresses on the back.

I don't remember on "The Oaklander", and I also don't remember where they are
The "Pontiac Owners Magazine" do have dealers names and addresses on the back, as do the "Safari" magazines. Jon.

I have a Pontiac Driving Excitement from 1998 and a few Pontiac Performance from 2007 to 2009 that they sent me after I bought my 2007 Grand Prix GXP.
Plus, I save this Action Track from several years ago: Last edited by JimFB400HO; 04-21-2021 at 09:59 AM. |

Here’s another GM magazine, it went to their employees, maybe some ex GM guy can shed some light on them, I sold a few off, one had the 10th anniversary ta in , a buddy bought that one, this one I kept because it has the new trans am for 1978 article.

I wrote the first editorial for Pontiac Driving Excitement back in 1998 or so. I also wrote a column for Pontiacracing.com. The pay was really good but dealing with the legal department was a serious hassle. They continually flagged stuff they didn't understand. Definitely not car enthusiasts...

The article on the 10th anniversary TA, showed the leather interior getting the embroidered birds being put on. Im not sure I ever saw that article other than in that magazine.

The Service Craftsman News are a goldmine of useful information. I have a set for 1961 (actually from late 1960 to late 1961, to cover the model year) and they're a great help for working on my car - they have updates to the service manuals, information on various dealer installed options, tips on how to fix things, etc. I'd recommend to anyone to track down a set for your car if you don't have them already.
