Default HEI Ditributor install help (Pics included)

Ok fellas, well hopefully one of you guys can help me out. I purchased a 1967 Tempest with 326 a few weeks ago. The seller said this car sat for years however was running when he parked it. I plan on resurrecting this motor so that I can move it in and out of my garage. After giving the underhood a good pressure wash, I found that rats had eaten through spark plug wires and distributor wires (See pics). I purchased a H.E.I distributor(see pics) which included a coil I am told, however I am not sure how to wire it. I have included a close up of the rats aftermath. Any help is appreciated. I will take any other pics if it makes it easier.

The first pic show the wires coming from the engine harness towards the distributor and coil.

Drop it in, run 8mm wires to the plugs, power the BAT terminal on the HEI with a 12V source thats hot in CRANK & RUN and your good to go. You don't need any of the original coil wires.

No just one...........the one next to it is the TACH terminal. Is your coil cover marked BAT and TACH?

The HEI is not going to be happy trying to run on the stock resistance wire. Easiest thing to do is bridge Ign1 and Ign2 terminals at the switch and run a new 12 gauge wire from these terminals to the HEI.

2X, For a new M&H harness tell them you have a HEI distributor, They will assemble it with the correct wire.

I bought one of those distributors too. Real nice piece but you should know that no less than Jim Hand himself notified us in that thread that he bought one. He generally liked it but informed us that it definitely needs to be modified a bit for the higher RPMs. I think he said it topped out at around 40+ degrees of mechanical advance once it passed 2000 rpm. Not too hard to fix IF you have a machine to test it.
Should be fine for moving the car around the yard but just an FYI

I don't have a machine either....but the thing to do first is to test it. Your's may be just right already. The procedure is to see what the advance curve looks like and adjust it as needed.
I'll find the thread and I'll post it here. It explains it better than I can. Also, there are some folks at this site that can defitnitely do it for you if you don't want to try it yourself.

Any switched 12 volt source will be fine preferably one in the fuse box.

It needs to have 12v in BOTH the start and run position. Bear in mind when first turning key on in start position the voltage commonly will for a very brief second drop to say 11 volts and thats normal due to the tremendous draw turning all the go around stuff for the first second or so.

Please pull dist apart and put some grease in the grease well under the pickup coil.

A guy in Collierville tn called me to come maybe pick his up and fix it. I pulled it apart in his driveway just to prove a point and he damn near fell out when I pulled the pickup coil off and sure enough there was no one home in that grease well. The whole time I'm saying there aint any grease under there.... theres no grasa under there, put some grease in there...

Hey check this out I'm gonna pull it apart right here and show ya...

seein is believin.

Holy no lubricant for the top bushing Batman!!!! Theres no grease in there!!!

I was laughing and he was about to fall down about it.

Mike Holmes would say...
Fix it, Fix it, Fix it.
Not acceptable.
