Default Aluminium Front Brake Drum ID

Hi there,

I have had these drums for ages, they came off the front of a 70 GTO I bought 20 plus years ago. I know it was a drum car originally but obviously a previous owner thought enough of these aluminium drums to stick them on.

I have tried searching and I am yet to see the same style pictured anywhere so I was hoping that someone could help ID them. I have been meaning to sell some things lately, these drums included, but I'd like to be 100% on exactly what they are off.

All I know is that they are 4 3/4 bolt pattern and they only have the little casting number pictured CFD9 and CFD7.

Thanks.

Those are Buick midsize front brake drums (Skylark series).

The drums are off a '68-70 Buick GS or same year Buick Sportwagon (A-body wagon).

Have a couple, I've pulled off GS's I've parted, & am looking for a pair of nice condition original backing plates. The backing plates are stamped differently than normal '68-72 A-body front drum brake backing plates.

Thanks for the quick responses 60sstuff and OPH...that's great to confirm them.

OPH are you saying that these only fit the matching factory backing plates as opposed to the iron drum backing plates? Because if that's the case I better see if I can get the backing plates from the bloke I sold the GTO to! LOL. He was going to discs...

Any ballpark on value of them?

they look diff..but you can bolt those right up to a standard backing plate...3 of my cars have those on it..all i did was pull the irons and put those right on...
